Porsche Mech in La Jolla
#1

Automotive Excellence. German guys (which of course makes all the difference in the world). They are pretty close to me and so would be convenient. Any experience will be appreciated.

Thanks

Hey rxter!

I haven't heard of them. I use "Dennis Sherman" in La Mesa and have been extremely satisfied with their work and customer service.

Good luck!

Joe,

The PO of my car had some of the work done there, I guess it was OK, but this is the shop that put in the incorrect motor mounts (see another recent thread). Assume you mean this: http://automotive-excellence.com

He also used AJ USA which is on Sorrento Mesa which is also in that same general area (http://www.ajusa.com). Wish I could remember the details, I think it is Alan Johnson (AJ) who used to be a big time Porsche racer many years ago. I know the PO had some body work done there. I had some 911 service done at AJ many years ago, but I recall they were expensive and inaccessible, meaning ya' can't get past the nice "customer care" person at the counter who is there you tell you nice stories and hide and protect the mechanics who are invisible.

I think both are the "high end" type of shop (the more expensive your car, the more they like you, i.e. from the Automotive Excellence web site: "We offer full Service for Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar, Bentley, Lexus, Audi and Ferrari. "). My car is at Black Forest right now, one good thing about them is they know the 924/944/968 series cars and older 911s very well, and are accessible, i.e you can talk to the mechanic, walk into the work area, they do race prep, etc. They are in Kearney Mesa, so a bit further from Sorrento Valley.

I know the um............My 968 was always serviced there. When I bought the car they did the PPI. They serviced the car well but I was less than happy about the PPI. I thought at the time they didn't give me a good low down on the car. The previous owner was very happy with them though.
