Strange Noise Issue
#1

Purchased a 95 coupe, 6-spd, 116,000 miles about 45 days ago. Two dealers checked it out and all mechanicals are in good condition. Timng belts, balance shaft belt, water pump and major service done in Jan this year. Have noticed in last few 10-20 mile trips on a variety of roads that a squeaking noise from the front happens at low speed, then at 2000-3000rpm in variety of gears. Engaging the clutch offers no change. Noise started today when making a slow left turn .The local dealer checked out the alignment some weeks ago on the Hunter system. All is OK, but last week he noticed the front sway bar may have a slight bend, possibly from improper towing, and appears to be "walking", although alignment is still on target. Shocks in front are original stock and still in good condition. Replaced leaking rears last week with Bilstein. Wheels are stock 17" Cup with new rubber, cross-drilled rotors, stainless brake lines, new brake pads. I am purely guessing, but is this a front end bushing problem, steering gear, sway bar, or other? Any ideas are appreciated.

Maybe the brakes are squealing as the disk flexes during a turn and rubs against the pad? If those front struts are original you are getting remarkable service from them. Usually need replacing after 60K miles or so. Good luck, Bob Blackwell.

The squeal noise occurs in straight line as well. Two days ago, in 45 degree wet weather, no noise issue. Today, 65 degrees and dry, and noise happens after 10 miles or so. Dealer said front struts are OEM Sachs, no previous record if they were replaced by the original owner.

Going by the little info here I would hazard a guess that you have dried bushings in the front somewhere (maybe the sway bar?), you can try to lube(wd-40) them one by one until you find the culprit.

Right before I bought my car the previous owner had a similar situation - the shop put new struts on the front and the sounds went away.
