In a bad 968 funk
#61

Yeah, I'd highly recommend it. The only downside, as I said, is the loss of the tilt "feature", which I never once used.

tama, it just sounds like some thing is spinning loose when I made a shift from 1 to 2nd, also I am getting that slippy feeling when I shift hard, especially when making a turn. I hate to travel the 50 miles to my mechanic to have him listen to it but I have a feeling that is what I will have to do.I just hope he used the right parts as it was a big job and expensive. He, my mechanioc still cannot figure out why I lost so much horse power after the fuel pump and steering rack replacement. But I did and it is a big difference just doesn't have the pep it used to.

Odd set of symptoms. My thoughts for what they are worth. I'm not sure how the wrong parts could cause some of what you say is happening ". . . slippy feeling when I shift hard, especially when making a turn." Unless, they are really wrong parts. There are a lot of mix and match parts that will fit our car from Porsche's use of a standard mounting, etc. I've had two different clutches in my car and they both worked OK. My car came with the 3000#+ clamp force pressure plate. Don't remember the part number, but I think it was the -132. Though I disliked how much pressure it took to depress, it functioned well. Though a lot on this forum prefer the green strip pressure plate, I have the -133 pressure plate, and I'm quite happy with it (I think it might have the blue stripe). The 3000#+ pressure plate did seem to chatter a bit when I was just starting to let it out. Could it be this is what you mean by slippy. Where it shudders as the clutch is released? As I recall, this shudder can also be caused by oil, or the like getting on the friction material of the clutch disc.

As far as the noise when shifting, could be something with the throughout bearing, as it is engaged during a shift, applying force to unclamp the clutch. Otherwise it is unloaded. Could be something with it. I assume it was replaced during the clutch job.

Edit: One last thought. Does your car have a limited slip differential, option 220. Limited slips can sometimes make a car feel a little funny when going around a corner slowly, especially when starting up. I've had them where they didn't, and have had them where they did feel a little odd. I think it has something to do with the action of the clutch pack in the differential and how smooth it acts. How bad was your clutch before. Could it have been so bad that it masked the feel of the differential on slow corners.

I also am not sure what "slipping" means, but thanks for the additional description. I also was wondering if you had the 220 LSD option,... is it a very smooth slipping where the engine revs higher and the car does not move faster? Or is it a shuddering, shaking kind of thing?

Well the white car does not seem to have mice in the same spot as the red car. Yet the two spots are different. So now I need to see of something is missing in the red car besides a mouse nest!

This is a great post, as I too am in a funk today. Just got done paying $400 for an oil change and replacement of the antiknock sensor (check engine light finally turned off for the first time in years), car was running great, even replaced the battery and topped off the A/C, and fixed the window visor clips. Then the check engine light came on again. Wondering if the knock sensor is bad again or if the OTHER knock sensor is bad.

MB968, I got totally side tracked as my hatch was leaking very bad, which I didn't know until I opened hatch for some thing and every thing was wet. Yes I have the limited slip option and it seems to be a shuddering when I am in the middle of a turn and shifting. I haven't driven it in a week as I had the hatch all apart. Thanks for your help
