PCA Concours/968 GTG 9/21
#1

In the current issue of Pano there was an advertisement for a concours show at a dealer in Eatontown New Jersey on Sunday September 21st, between 9-3pm. I spoke to Gary Tucker at the dealership and he said he would be glad to have a number of 968s join the party. They provide free food and drinks and awards in the afternoon. Below is a link to the dealer site. Let me know if you are interested in coming so I can give him a count. This way us eastcoasters who won't be attending the 968 celebration on the same weekend will have something to do to get our Porsche "fix".

Interesting - I put this on my calendar. That's the OPC at which I'd purchased my first 968.

Jeff,

If both you and Anchorman will be there, I will definitely put it on the calendar (163 miles from Hershey, 3 hrs driving on a Sunday - 1 day trip - this could work). It would be great if Ron Salvador, the Webmeister could also make it - would love to see the new 968 Register team and other 968 Register members (Ginger and Charlie, etc).

I am still planning on attending this event (as long as it doesn't rain). I look forward to seeing other 968ers there. I've talk to the organizer and he is planning for some of us. Free food and lots of Porsches. Sounds like a great day.

bumping this up toward the top - this would be a good chance for some of you new owners to meet other members, as well as a great chance to see the things they have done to their cars

the address is:

I would like to attend, I will be leaving NYC early sunday morning and this is on my way home.

But, I have had threats of physical violence from a "well respected" enthusiast who is attending.

So I may, or may not stop by. If I do, I will not need any event parking. I will park down the street and walk up.

Humm, physical violence has not been a part of events past so I wouldn't expect it to pop up here. I expect a peaceful event with lots of Porsches and fun and will do my part to ensure that is what happens. Stop by and say hello, I'll be the guy next to the mint green car.

lol - i've heard of things like this before, and experienced some similarly unprepossessing social behavior myself - so uncultivated and reprehensible - made me want to go take a shower

Can we determine the perp via process of elimination?

Unfortunately, I will have only been home for less than 24 hours after picking up the cab, so a 2 hour jaunt down to the Shore won't go over well. And that is an understatement!

Smokie- sorry to hear that you have been threatened by someone within the Porsche community. I can only imagine the circumstances.

There have been wrongs on the part of many in the past including myself. But now we have a peaceful group who has one common goal, 968 enthusiasum. Let's put the past behind us, move forward, respect others and their opinions, have a good time, and appreciate our unique cars. That's the plan for Sunday.

I believe there is a 48 hour cool down period after picking up a "new" car.

So come on out. You can bring the one who "it wont go over with well". She can hang with my

sweet charming ol' lady.

i don't think anybody is suggesting otherwise, but those committing such egregious offenses would have to be the ones to extend the olive branches, and make the apologies necessary - banter or disagreement is one thing - threats are entirely different, and reprehensible behavior - people making them should be shunned, or at a bare minimum admonished - it's not ok to just "forget about it and move on" - reparations need to be made if this is ever going to heal

I don't think we would find agreement on where the "reprehensible behavior" came from and who needs to extend who an "olive branch". That said, it is everyone's choice on how they want to move forward. My thoughts are to leave the past behind you and enjoy the future events. I understand that is just my opinion and everyone is entitled to make their own choice. I for one will be enjoying all the 968s that show up at the NJ event on Sunday and I know the 968 celebration group will be doing the same in New Mexico.

i completely disagree - if you are not a part of the solution, you are a part of the problem

you cannot merely ignore the past - society does not work like that - you also don't get that choice - there are very clear lines on what is acceptable and what is not - threats are not - period - regardless of what led up to them, or what your personal perception is of who did what first, that is not acceptable - we have laws about that kind of thing

disagreements on a forum are one thing - that nonsense is expected, sometimes helpful, and certainly to be taken with a grain of salt - when it graduates to threats, it is out of hand - frankly, that is criminal, and should be punished - i am surprised it hasn't gone that far, and i commend smokie for having the self control to not avail himself of his legal rights

regardless, sweeping it under the rug, without doing something about it, is just wrong - that's like somebody seeing somebody peeing in the middle of a party, and not doing anything about it - what kind of a person does that? i'm not sure which one is worse either, the idiot who peed, or the guy who knew better and did nothing about it

to paraphrase something we should all live by (you may recognize it):

When a long train of abuses and userpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to provide new guards for their security.

I respect your opinion.

Back to the thread topic, again, those interested, please join your fellow PCA 968ers this Sunday in NJ (and don't forget the 968 celebration in New Mexico).

Thanks for the event post.

it's not an opinion - it's a matter of law, and something we all agree to live by when we choose to live in this country

hopefully those attending can behave like adults, and be sociable
