PCA Concours/968 GTG 9/21
#41

What a surprise I found when I looked at this thread for the first time - just now! Didn't realize that I'd been missing all of the action...

Anyway, my current plans include spending a few hours at the Sunday event. The weather forecast is excellent, and the conflict with family events seems to have evaporated. I'll see if I can find my referee shirt.

Jim, my intention with the thread was just to post the news about the event, no "action" intended.

I'll look for you on Sunday.

I understand the intent - threads drift, this one in an unexpected way. No big deal, though. 'til Sunday.

Jeff, Jim and all going,

Sounds like a great event on Sunday. Unfortunately, due to family (grandchildren) and church (Sunday School Teacher), Elke and I will be unable to attend. First I could not make the 968 Celebration at Escape (Dan Dennison sent pictures and it looks like a great time was had by the 968 owners) and now I cannot make the Concours de Elegance at West Long Beach, NJ. - rats!

Have a great event and I look forward to hearing which 968 owners won the prizes.

Thanks for the well wishes Don. We'll miss you (and we could have used some red to fill out the color spectrum). It is going to be a fun event. We'll put photos of both events on the register web site in a week or so.

Sunday morning arrived and wifey and I had a scheduled vacation day. I had been maneuvering her toward the Jersey shore as I knew the GTG at Schneider & Nelson was this weekend.

As luck would have it, the weather was perfect and I was able to reserve a really nice room only miles from the event so I made my plan to attend and visit some 968 friends.

When we arrived around 11:30 I immediately, saw Jeff Coe (let’s face it, how many Mint Green Porsche’s are there, much less 968’s?). He was with a couple of other 968ers who left almost immediately (hard to tell who they were…really ). Jeff’s son Greg was there and he has become almost as knowledgeable as Dad about 968s. We were shocked to find out that his first car will not be a 968, but rather an Audi A4 (not a bad choice, but keep working toward the P car, Greg). Greg sat in every car on the lot, so I’m sure he’s planning his next move.

I met a new member of the crowd, Bill with his (new to him in June) 968 and we did the perfunctory walk around and look through. The car needs some TLC, but Bill has the tools and I’m sure this will be a great car when he’s done with it. I made sure to give him a card for RS Barn.

Smokiemon showed up with his Lady Lorri and Anchorman and his lovely wife Ellen joined us. As always, talk centered around cars, vacations, business and all of the goings on in our lives, this is never a one dimensional crowd. It is always a fun time to meet with other 968 folks and it was all too soon that Melva dragged me off so we could start our “vacation day”.

Thanks for pulling this together Jeff, not a bad moment in the entire day.

Regards,

Jay

Jay, it was great to see you and Mel. The cab sounded great with the new exhaust system which looks great as well. I did a full write up on the event with photos and they'll be posted on the 968register.com web site as soon as Ron can get to it. It was a great day and a great time seeing everyone. Jeff

why don't you just post it here? this is the repository for all things 968 - you could put up a gallery of the event, including a file of the article

Sorry I missed this, but I've been killer busy lately. Jay, what is this thing you call vacation...I may have to look that up. Sounds like a good crew was gathered. Only reason I'm home early tonight is I told my neighbor I'd help him with his TV...oh wait, that's still work. Next time!

I'm going to try and get with Kathy to plan another crab feast dine and drive, perhaps even this season before the weather turns colder. It's only the beginning of convertible weather for me...top down, heat on!

Bob,

If you would like me to I will post the info. Should I just append the photos and write-up as the next reply to this thread? My photos are high res, will the download resize? Remember, the PCA register is friends to ALL 968 owners so I trust my posts won't be censored due to "who likes who".

Thanks

Bob, I know you said you were working on it last week but I can't find it. Can you tell me where it is located.

Thanks
