Parts ?
#1

As these cars become older I'm wondering what new/used parts I should be hoarding if I'm keeping the car? Now that VW fully owns Porsche what will that mean for OEM parts? There aren't that many of these out there (fewer every day) so not a large market for parts.

What do you think?

water pump, <acronym title='dual mass flywheel'>DMF</acronym>, cams,<acronym title='throttle position sensor'>TPS</acronym>....right off the top of my head.

Anything that Porsche says is no longer available and tends to break.

One of my biggest fears. Probably why I'm still thinking about buying another 968, if for no other reason but to have that one NLA part which will truly be NLA, as in not at any salvage yards, no alternative part from Audi or VW , no way to custom manufacture it without spending $ 10k , and so on.. That way I'll be reasonable assured I'll have at least ONE working 968 at all times, and the other will just be...well, a 3,000 lbs paperweight, spare parts repository.

If I only had a place to store one. LOL I'm not sure my neighbors would approve. I've got too many vehicles now.

You may both store them at my place. I will provide covered storage as well as "motion therapy" to ensure nothing seizes up. I generally recommend 3-5,000 miles of therapy per car, per year.
