Heck yes! Will be great fun! In our teens, among our gang, we had '62 Sprite (mine), my buddy had a TR-3 and a Spitfire, my brother an Austin Healey 100-4 BN2, friend 2 houses up the street a MGA and Triumph Herald. It was great, mini race cars all around town, summer nights hanging out in somebody's driveway / garage. The Triumph TR-250 was my absolute dream car at that time, but way out of my budget. {another friend had a 1968 Shelby Cobra GT-500 KR -- that's another story}



Mine was the worst, bought it for $130 not running, several boxes of parts came with it. Bought some spark plugs and gaskets for under $10 and with the parts in the boxes it was running fine. Here is my POS, but as a first car it was heaven! Trivia: See the NJ license plate on the front, VUE-642 : framed and hanging in my garage right now in my car work area (I feel a bond with the NJ 968 forum guys!)

I have had a TR6 for 12 years now, and I'm just at the end of a 4 year frame off restoration. I'm tuning the engine and doing the final buffing and fitting of the panels. I love this car...it's interesting the difference between working on a 968 and a TR6...I appreciate both cars...and what the added complication of the 968 brings in terms of luxury and performance compared to the 6, but I also appreciate the simplicity of the 6...especially now that it is all restored.

I for one would definitely recommend getting a Triumph if you like them.

Well, I finally took delivery on the TR3. We had agreed the company I purchased it from (dustycars.com) would get it up to solid drivable condition. Now the journey begins. I plan on taking my time going through it - fixing one or two issues each weekend - culminating in a repaint. The car is pretty straight. It was sitting in a barn in Gold Country since 1981, so there is no rust. I'm going to have to put in some seatbelts. The very low door line, coupled with the "tilt-a-whirl" cornering characteristics, makes driving it through curves feel like riding a roller coaster without any restraints! VERY different from the 968. This is gonna be big fun!
