Can someone please clarify option code 398.

The list above states: 398 Outside Electric Mirror, Left

But on my car's "Birth Certificate" I got from the Porsche Main Dealer, option 398 is Cup-rad '93 17"(al) which I assume means 17in Cup Design wheels, but it could also mean P31 sports chassis (968) with Cup design wheels

Can someone help?

The problem with generic lists like the one above is that Porsche reused option codes which you have discovered for 398. 398 is indeed 17 inch cup design wheel for the 968. This is the later style, found on 94.5s and 95 968s. It cost $1378 on the sticker. P31 is a package code which included the 030 sport suspension and the 398 wheels. Porsche used package codes on a few things like audio systems as well.

398 is the outside electric left mirror for pre-1996,
398 is 17" 5 spoke Cup design wheels with 205/50/17 front and 225/40/17 rear for 1996
398 is 18" technology design wheels for 1997
398 is P31 sports chassis for the 968

confusing indeed

Is there a code 650? I've been provided that number by a seller and he claims that it is listed along with several other option numbers that show up on the list. What is 650?

What are options

595?

231?

And what comprised the 030 Club Sport Package?

Thank.

Option code 030 is different from Club Sport:

Club Sports had a bunch of weight savings: Manual Windows/Mirrors/hatch release, Rear Wiper Delete, casette holder delete, car alarm delete, engine bay cover delete, air bag delete, lighter battery, and different springs. Also many came with Lightweight seats or cloth comfort seats. Total weight savings was over 100 ponuds!

M030 is a suspension upgrade package that could be added to any car (Coupes only) including Club Sports and it included: Bigger Sway bars, adjustable suspension, larger front calipers, cross drilled rotors, shorter springs, and 17" wheel upgrade. Here is a site that shows the different parts and a great diagram: http://www.weissach....030-Option.html

Just a side note as I see your in Maryland; 0 Club Sports were sold in the United States and they are not street legal for import in most states due to the deletion of safely equipment.

There where 99 M 030 copues imported to the U.S. during the entire production run 1992-1995 so you would have better luck finding one of those there are usually at least 1 or 2 for sale each year.

Option # 220 (Limited Slip Differential) would be a smart option to look for as weel; most M030 cars will have this though.

Good luck with your search, Dan

Thanks. I recently encountered a M030 car with <acronym title='Limited Slip Differential'>LSD</acronym>. How much of a premium is such a car worth (to a 968 enthusiast)? I know a lot of guys add on most of the M030 suspension bits, but does it mean a lot more to actually have a car that came equipped from the factory with the M030 option?

I believe M030 gave you heavier hubs and spindles as well as beefier calipers? Th cost to upgrade separately plus <acronym title='Limited Slip Differential'>LSD</acronym> would have me paying 3-4k extra without to much fuss.
