The wire which attaches to the oil temp sensor ( inserted in the oil pan wall ) got disconnected and was just hanging down under the car . So I thought no big deal, I'll just plug it back in ..when I realized that there was nothing on the sensor in which to plug it . The end of the wire has a tiny flat " female " end which would connect to a "male " counterpart at the sensor, but that part simply is nowhere to be found on the sensor . So the sensor tip must have had a cap or something containing that " male " end piece . which apparently fell off. Now what ? I can't imagine that missing piece is available separately, so could I just attach the wire's metal end to any exposed metal part of the sensor tip and then affix that connection somehow to the body of the sensor ( maybe with Goilla brand electrical tape ) and hope it does not come loose minutes after driving over a few bumps or wet roadways, etc ? Would that simplistic contact work anyway, or does the wire really need to be connected to a corresponding male end, as it was originally ?
