Oil Temperature Gauge
#1

Thinking about an oil temp gauge to fill the third hole in my gauge cluster to compliment the new boost. What is everyone using for a tap point for the temp gauge. Has anyone used an oil filter sandwich adapter and will it fit our cars and the limited space. The Glow Shift unit for just under $30 seems pretty inviting.

both bva and i have that adaptor - we have both had to deal with fitting leaks - i had a heck of a time getting the gasket seated - it was neither easy to install nor easy to access - i am still trying to figure out how to get what i want and be able to remove it and its problems

had i to do it over again, i would use something like the lindsey adaptor that goes in at the pressure sending unit if i had to use a thermocoupler, or the drainplug like i had before for a thermistor - the difference between the two being where it picks up the temperature - i prefer to get it at the pan, as that is post cooler, whereas the others are precooler, and not a real indicator of oil temp

Thanks. I had doubts as to where the fittings would end up since it looks like you just screw it on until it stops. Not really sure I need an oil temp gauge anyway. Flash, what brand did you end up using for boost, etc. gauges. Would love to find one that only went to 7 or 10 psi so as to get a better appearance when driving.

with the plate, there is a fitting that goes through the center - so you position the plate, and then screw down the fitting - the whole plate doesn't spin - then you spin the filter onto that

i went with VDO - i found one that had less space taken on the boost side - try egauges.com
