Newbie first track day!!
#1

Heres the pics of my first trackday.
The car performed perfectly, except for the brakes, i cooked the brakes so every 10 laps i had to pit.
Since then i upgraded the brakes to M030 spec, very nice feeling, cant wait for the next trackday.

I remember my first track day fondly...welcome to the slippery slope.

I also have a black cab. If not for the license plate and the wheels, these could be photos of me on the track. One added and notable difference, though. The group I participate through would not allow a novice out without an instructor, so my photos have both seats filled.

Also, driver's window always completely down. Safety issue.

Hmm, I remember, first it was brakes, then suspension, then tires and wheels, etc. That was about $12,000US in parts ago. Welcome to Driver's Education!

Nice pics...

Don't see many 968Cab's on the track. That is exactly what I would like to do. As long as I'm in the "Touring Lights" group, the requirements are minimally restrictive. Right now I'm sharing a car with my father in law, MUCH more car than I need (but it helps cover my bad driving skills). I'd much prefer to drive a well balance 968 and learn a more balanced approach to driving the track.

Nice pics. Interesting to see LHD at Brands Hatch.
As others have touched on, you are on the precipice of a very slippery slope.
I would get as much feedback from the guys in here and other forums to see where
you want to go vs what your budget is.

BIG CLUE: Do your sums, then double the amount. That's a good start. Not so bad for n/a car though.

Good luck.

Other than the brakes (and I'm surprised you're cooking yours to the extent you are - you might try an earlier, less abrupt application - upsets the balance of the car less, too), I wouldn't do any mods to the car until you get to the point where you're "out-driving" it. Most cars' capabilities so far exceed that of beginning track day drivers that it's best to let your driving grow into the car. In my case, it took a good 14 hours of track time before I got to where it would take mods to the car to continue to bring down my lap times (at which point my employer cut my pay, so that was the end of that ). Just my 2 cents, but it's advice I've heard many times over from experienced track junkies, and from my own experience, it seems to make sense.

Congrats on the first track day! I'm surprised that the brakes were cooking that quickly for you to the point you had to pull off every 10 laps. Were you running stock brake fluid for that event by any chance? If you were, you may want to put in a racing brake fluid like Super Blue if you haven't already for the next event. Just thought I'd mention it as you could run into the same issue with the new brakes if you're running regular fluid.

it's too bad shipping is so crazy - the biggest improvement i made in the handling of the cab was the combination of the 3 braces - night and day difference

Nice pics.

Look's like fun. How do you feel you did in and out of the corners in comparison to some of the other cars out. Man that 911 In pic 1 looks fast.

it was quite the fun day. the car did go well around the bends, i manage to overtake a couple of boxsters S and 944's they were all tuned up but not sure if they were turbos.
Yes there were alot of 996 and 997 GT3's and cup cars but also some rare ones, a 930 turbo flatnose, GT3 RSR and cayman turbo and the beautiful 968 you see in the pics
Well i have to say that my car is also modded:

M030 F and R bars
RSbarn lower brace
KLA strut brace
FRONT SWAY BAR BRACKET SUPPORT
REAR SWAY BAR DROP LINK
plus all the other goodies i forget now the amount of stuff the car has now, the lastest is the new injectors they seem to be working quite well.

Awesome! Get the roll bar/brace... Track looks sweet. I wish we had more world class "newer" tracks here in the states... with tons of runoff room and well designed... everything!
