New old seats
#1

Well, it was about time to update the seats. I wanted 8w for driver and passenger (only have driver 4W now). Found a nice set with bilateral 8W and good leather. I was going to send my seats to Bob at 928leatershop or do them myself. But the cost of new leather was 900-1000 for the good stuff from Bob. And then I would have to install it to save 500$. And then I still had the 4W seat frame.

So I found these for less than new covers installed on my old 4W frame:

They look great.
Are they sport or comfort? I'm guessing comfort but the bolsters look a little bigger then normal.

Thanks, supposed to be just regular style, but the bolsters do look a little big...probably just because they are practically new.

Did you find these on EBAY? I saw a posting for these (or similar) on there.
I am in the market for new seats and I am all over the place with what to get. Looking for a stop gap as I can get Recaro at cost so thats what I will ultimately go with.

Yep, Epay. One track was a little bent which required removing whole track and much fine bending and hammering to get it to slide nicely. Also, seats were recovered and some original leather was replaced with vinyl. Seller gave me 200$ back. Overall, VERY nice for the price.

Honestly, I don;t know how I ever enjoyed this ride without the 8way adjustables. Newer seat foam also great. VERY comfortable!!! I think there is definately more adjustability with these seats. Out of a newer "1990's something " 993 and bolt right in place. Wiring harnes (two on driver side, one on pass side) fit perfectly.

Seller very easy to reach by phone and very helpful. Losa Angeles porsche dismantler...Shipped real fast, too.

So now I have put in new carpet, floor mats, dash trim pieces, fixed the mirror switch, alarm switch, window switches, new door window rubber surrounds and guides, new door, new ashtray, newer visors, newer steering wheel, new windshield, glove box door(and leather cover with porsche emblem), shifter, shifter boot, handbrake, seat covers(black), gauge power board. This is just the passenger area....still working on the engine and trans upgrades as time and money allow....and the dent...

This thread stings a bit, I recently bought a pair of 993 seats a lot like that off ebay for my car but they were not nearly as nice as described. The seller's pictures were pretty small, but he had great feedback and the description was promising. $725 and some shipping hassles later I have a pair of dual 8-way 993 seats that are only a bit nicer and less worn than my current 159k mile 968 cabrio seats.

unfortunately this is all too common - it is very hard to see the true condition of seats in pictures - you can't "feel" the leather, and consequently don't really know how good they are - too often people hit them with dressing so they look good in pics, but in reality they are still dried out

always best to have somebody see them in person first if you can't

Thanks guys! lots of cash and work. Too bad about the seats JF. Mine were 'clean up jobs' as well, but with fairly good condition and the 8 way on both sides, for 1100$ w/shipping, I am not too upset if they are not perfect. Some day, when I have a spare 1500$ I will get a set of 928leathershop REAL nice leather champagne seats with french seams...

PS: EVERYHING in this car now works great. And the AC is the coldest automobile AC I have ever felt.

You can even hit the trunk button under dash and the trunk magically pops open automatically.
