Favorite Thing: The community of 968 owners that I discovered last year is really fantastic. There are lots of other great things about the car, but this group of people has been an amazing plus in the ownership experience.
Least Favorite: Cost and availability of parts
What drew me to the 968: I drove a 944 for years. I felt more connected to that car than any other car I have ever driven (until the 968). The handling was fantastic, the interior was laid out logically with everything in easy reach. The 968, the next step in the evolution of that line, was the obvious choice for my next car.
I will never sell the car. I like it too much. A year ago, I nearly sold it because the Porsche dealer service was becoming prohibitively expensive and their lack of experience with the model leading me to question the quality of the service. For quite a while I was unable to find a better option. Luckily, last February I found some outstanding resources to help maintain the car (RS Barn, Sunset Porsche, the expertise that is so easily obtained on this Forum) that will allow me to keep my beloved car going for some time to come.
Early '92 black coupe with classic grey interior, LSD, Original 17" C2 Turbo wheels, sport seats, and recessed hood badge. Recent upgrade to RSB Stage 1 with air box mod, Yellow Koni Sport adjustable shocks and struts, stiffer springs, RSB SS clutch and brake lines, and 968Forums sun screen...

1. The design of the rear, escpecially the red tail lights
2. the Harsh sounding engine (I'm hoping to fix that with a new catback)
3. Price and the "Best handling car in the world" award. It also needed to be ticked of my "Have to own" list
4. Parts availability

1. I bought the car for its handling and performance. I had owned an early production 944 and always felt the chassis was underpowered. Driving this car is like flying a fighter. Yes, there were faster cars available for less money, but Porsche had the handling and the uniqueness that doesn't come with a Japanese import.
2. The potential for it to "age out" on me. This car is my daily driver and I fear that at some point aging mechanicals and electrical equipment will compel me to give it up. I'm not yet in the kind of financial situation where I can afford a weekend only car where reliability is less an issue and I don't have a "service bay" that would permit me to work on the car myself.
3. The design, the car reminds me of the Shelby Daytona Cobras and Ferrari GTOs from the mid 1960's. The hatchback design made it the only high performance car that I could easily load up with camping and fly fishing gear and head off to Montana and Wyoming for 2 weeks of camping and fly fishing. These days, I appreciate the fact that it can haul a dozen cases of wine.
4. As noted above, the only reason that I would sell the car would be if it just gets to costly/expensive to maintain for use as a daily driver.

1. Overall Balance (Handling, Power, Braking)
2. Fragile T-Belt BS belt
3. I always wanted a 911 from the very first moment I saw a 911 Targa. When the time cam for me to look I could not find the 911 that met my list of features, cost, condition, mileage etc. In the meantime, a friend gave me a magazine that announced the 968 as the most under rated Porsche ever, so I started looking for one and found my '94 Cabrio (in 2000) with 16K miles in showroom condition for a price I could afford.
4. My new girlfriend likes Ferraris, who am I to argue? Otherwise, not much...(though a winning powerball ticket would make the 968 see much less action).

Ahhh...but do you detest the looks of GF? With her in the passenger seat who cares what kind of car you're driving (she could make a chevette look hot)?

1. My favourite thing about the 968 is the handling. The communication and feedback I get through the chassis and steering is fantastic.
2. Least favourite would be the difficulty in sourcing parts. I'm sure they are out there though.
3. A bit embarrassed to admit, but what mainly drew me to the 968 was that it was available in Tiptronic. I had a manual 944 previously, and it was a pain as a daily driver.
4. Not planning to sell. Even if it becomes very costly to maintain or restore, I plan to keep her.

1. Is there a more beautiful front end in the automotive world? Also, hey I can fit in it (6'5") and I cant in a 911.
2. The cruise control and windshield wipers levers are too close together. How many times have you accidentally splashed the windshield when you were trying to adjust the cruise?
3. Wherever I drive, I never see another one.
4. Lack of garage space if I found a low mile example of any of the following: a FLY Ferrari 355 GTS,'01-'02 Laguna Seca Blue M Coupe, Polar Silver RS America, Speed Yellow '94 911 Turbo S Flachbau, '76 930 in a unique color, '97-'98 C2S in Maritime Blue, '69-'70 Grabber Blue Mustang Boss 302, '65-'66 911, 924 GTS. If I could buy a house with a 10 car garage I would own them all!

1. What is your favorite thing about the 968? 1) Affordability, 2) overall looks, 3) performance, in no particular order ;-)
2. What is your least favorite thing about the 968? 1) Those darn stalk levers on the right of the steering wheel (cruise and wipers)... too close together... embarrassing at times and 2) I'm not a fan of the "frog eyes" head lamps
3. What drew you to the 968? See #1 and the 993TT was a bank account killer
4. If you sold it, why? Blasphemy!!! I'll never ever sell!!!
