I haven't been able to get in since Saturday. I can get to the home page, but receive an error when trying to get to the message board.

Same thing - when I'd posted earlier, it was because I'd finally gotten to the main thread menu and thought that was indicative of all being OK. But it wasn't, none of the threads are working. Could this be what we've feared for a long time? Thanks for your foresight, Eric.

I guess it's down forever since there is not an active webmaster to get a fix.

That site seems to never die, I really want to see it stick around there is so much useful archived information. However if it does those who refuse to give in to what we have built here will be in a predicament. Swallowing pride is a difficult thing to do. I won't even say I told you so. Everyone is welcome with an open hand. .net was a great site but like many things in life it became obsolete. Anyway I know getting the Porsche talk fix is important to many of us so when those who despise this site want to come over we are here for them. For everyone else that has supported the forums I appreciate the participation! This site will be updated and here as long as you guys want it to be. If I ever get in a position that I can no longer manage the site I will pass on the baton. You have that as my commitment.

Thanks for all your work and commitment Eric. It must be difficult to the contributors on .net if they no longer have a forum so here's hoping the site will be ok. It would be great if everyone could come together and participate on both sites.

I have to admit tthat I've never understood the whole East Coast/West Coast crips/bloods competition between these two sites. I have enjoyed and learned a great deal from both sites.

I will miss .net, but I'm sure that all true enthusiasts will find a home here at forums...

Thank you Eric for this great site!

Rennlist and Pelican are other established options for those that do not wish to participate in 968forums. Although I hope that others will join 968forums not because of a lack of choice but due to improvement in this forum.

It's not really a west vs. east thing it is one or two individuals on each coast having a problem with one or two specific users on the other coast. Generally, those who have met the people in question in person are from the same coast and as such might tend to defend the local individual but the vast majority were fairly neutral and would either ignore the outbursts or want to smack both sides with a crowbar.

Crips/Bloods is a west coast thing so maybe the East/West Rap Wars would have been a better analogy.

Funny thing is I own the site and I no longer live on either cost! I am now in the middle! I guess that makes me Neutral!

I've seen the errors on .net before, so there's a chance it'll come back up.

IMO both sites have pluses & minuses. I like the layout and simplicity of .net, but some of the advanced features here are nice - so it's a toss-up.

@Eric

The site isn't completely gone yet, give it some time. I noticed you're #3, I would think the owner would be #1[?].

The last post is listed as 10/2/05. I always got the impression that 968.net was originally created to sell a very tough to sell car, Ray's 968 race car, and that it blossomed from there with Ray never really realizing the commercial potential from his considerable audience but putting in a lot of work, which we have all benefitted from, to keep the site up.

I'm sure the .net site will be back up at some point but this does show the value of having an attentive owner. Thanks Eric.

BTW, .net pre-dated Ray having a race car so I don't think that is why he started it.
