Caster Mount thread
#1

I suspect one of my caster mount bolt threads is stripped - bolt tightens up, but not well. I don't want to completely strip it so may use some thread lock for now to make sure the bolt stays as it should.

Anyone else experienced this? What are my options (it is one of the outer of the two holes)

i've seen this on 2 cars, and heard of another - definitely not the strongest spot on the car

I had the same problem. My quick fix was to retap the hole using a standard size tap which is a more course thread. One of these days I'll Helicoil it or time sert it. But for now it works even when torqued.

Helicoil will be allot stronger than just running a tap thru it. There is allot of stress on that bolt.

We've also seen the threaded portion break off inside!!! It's just a nut with spot welds. Not the best design for a stressed suspension pickup point.
