My lightweight headlight conversion
#41

Thanks; as much as I'd give my next born (OK, so there's NO WAY that's going to happen) for a lightweight hood, the cost of shipping one across the pond would probably blow what's left of my kids' college funds!

The website does not show all the products he is offering. Just E-Mail him. He also offers a lighweight hood for the 968 for example.

Dealt with him before and the guy is very reliable and has high quality products at very reasonable prices.

Cheers

Alex

I agree completely, very professional company.

As I decided not to continue to modify my car further.. I actually have one 968 lightweight hood for sale right now. (it's not from Hahn though)

Too bad there's not so many 968's in Finland.. the market for parts like that is almost nonexistent.

It could be worse, considering the situation in Chile.

Just out of curiosity, have you testing the hood to see how it fits? I'd love a lightweight hood, but am balking because I've heard the fit is generally terrible, plus they're not cheap. Thanks.

Anything else that can reduce the weight in the front end?

So far, lights, battery, hood...

I recall Flash removed the front aluminum bumper. I tried it but felt the car

(acts) a little loose....

Lim,

Do you mean for a track car or a street car? If for track, the foglights are actually pretty heavy, so replacing them with brake cooling ducts should save a couple of pounds. Or if you're like me and never use fog lights, you could remove them, and put the brake cooling duct scoops such as the ones Paragon sells for just $16.40 in their place, and not even hook it up to ducting tubes, assuming they fit in the openings where the foglights go:

Unfortunately, Paragon doesn't have a picture of the front side of the scoops. But if they look anything like the ones JarmoL has on his car, they're a nice, purposeful look.

I don't understand why the front end should feel loose with the bumper removed - there must be something else going on, like an alignment issue, or something with the tires.

But if you were to go whole hog with a lightweight hood, lightweight battery, fixed headlights, no bumper, and no fog lights, you could save upwards of 90 pounds or so off the front end - definitely a substantial reduction.

No, sorry - I have no experience with that lightweight hood. I bought other products off him and can only speak for them but I would be very surprised if the hood is crap after the other stuff was real high quality craftsmanship.

Tried to send you a message regarding price but somehow the system says you cannot recieve any (more) messages ...

Hmmm... I'll have to check into that. At least I'll see if deleting some of my old messages will help. I am curious as to what these guys charge for a hood, even if the shipping is likely to be prohibitive.

Edit: I deleted a bunch of my old messages, and all of my old notifications, so please try again. If you still can't PM me, please reply to this thread, and I'll inquire as to why. Thanks.

Cloud,

Thx......Mine is a DD. I use the fogs even at night without the headlights sometimes. So more interested in some type of headlight solution.

Mainly, I just prefer the non pop up look and weight saving is a bonus. Thats just me.

Definitely want to do the battery mod though.....Lim

that's a bowling ball off the front end - that's significant

[/quote]

Damn flash- you use a 24lb bowling ball? That's pretty impressive in itself.
