Missing hose or part?
#1

Hi all,

When replacing a AC hose I came across this part (see photo) that misses, I think, the rest of the hose. Any idea what this is used for and what I'm missing?

Thanks!

Hoi Heezeg,

I'm not sure what I'm seeing here.

Could be from the AC, did it work before you replaced the hose?

If yes, it's probably from something else.

I'm trying to work out what the pipe has been plugged with .... is that the firing cap of a .22?

If I remember correctly the supply and return pipes run parallel through the left side wing, so follow the "complete " pipe and you should find another, possibly plugged, hole or bit of piping.... maybe at the compressor?

Though as J asks, did the ac work previously? If yes then I'm talkin complete rubbish Sad

Don't think it is part of the AC (there are 2 AC hoses in the same area). It ends on the bottom of the car as an open hose (maybe to drain water?). But have no idea where it begins.

Interesting. First, I thought it was the liquid line to the evaporator. Thats because the liquid line runs parallel to the suction line on the firewall. I don't see the smaller liquid line in your photo. Then I looked at my spare 92-968 in the back yard. and SUPRISE!!! That's a fuel tank vent line that is supposed to run over to the driver's fender and then to the carbon canister. You must not have emissions testing because this is enough to fail it if you did. Item 11 in capture file.

Good call Paul, Heezeg I did warn you I might be talking rubbish Sad

This is a good nudge for me as I need to go very slowly when filling the tank, presumably one of the breather pipes or filters is crushed/ blocked.... seeing Paul's diagram gives me something to think about. Thanks

Heezeg, do you have some measurements from the line (diameter for example).

Thanks, that must be it! The second AC line I had to remove (will be replaced for a new one).

Emission tests aren't a part of our yearly car checks in The Netherlands :-)

Will order this part!
