MILEAGE MILESTONE
#21

kewl pic!

FRPorscheman here in the bay area has a coupe with 220K.

Seems to me that with regular maintenance the life of these cars is effectively forever. It's just a question of how much $ you want to put into an older car. Which to me is a no brainer <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

My '95 has about 164,000. I bought it Dec 05 with 158,000. I will never sell this car.

My mom's '93 has 222,000. She bought it last month, and I've been doing some maintenance stuff to it to ensure it will reach 300,000. The service records were complete, and comprehensive, so I know this car is in for the long haul!

My mom was getting tired of her beat-up, raggedy 944 so I started looking for a new car for her (this was 2 months ago so I had my 968 for a year already). I showed her many 944s, and none really seemed to excite her. I thought I might show her a cheap 968 I found... she instantly fell in love. She's not worried about the high mileage, since it was very well taken care of, and also because I'm here to keep taking care of it!

But yeah 222 is insane. What's even more insane is that it's 5am and I have apparently become an insomniac.

I realize that ordinarily turning the odometer to 71,000 miles would be unremarkable. But I remembered that I had posted 70,000 miles on our July 4th jaunt to St. Michael's Island in Maryland.

So now it is 6 months later and I have only turned 1,000 miles...this leads me to two conclusions.

1) I need to drive my 968 MORE!

2) As time goes by, my appreciation for this fine car keeps growing, I can't imagine not having it to drive.

I wish you all a very Happy, Healthy, New year and many fun filled miles in your 968.

Warm regards,

Jay

Of those that have 150K+ - I hope you're keeping an eye on the cam sprockets.

I had to replace my cams @ 77K, [2K ago]. Hopefully I'll get at least 80K out of this set.

Gene - Great link! Hurricane Region uses Maxton for autocross. The great part is using the long runway for "warm up" runs!

We are meeting next Sunday to set the AX and DE schedule for the year. Not sure what the availability of the Rock is going to be with new ownership.
