New 968 Owner looking for input!
#21

Jeremie - Actually, just was at a friend's house last night with a bunch of fellow Track-Rats. I believe one of them, Mark P. is working at Euroquipe now. He's a great guy and kinda the P-car specialist there. He is, admitely, more experienced with 911 variants, but I would give great weight to anything he says.

They do a bit more Bimmer work than P-car, if I recall.

Dave- That is good to know. I drive by Euroquipe from time to time since they are close to my house. I hope to stop by there and also Becker's this week. I want someone to take a 'listen and see' to make sure I done have any major problems before I start dropping $$ in other places. Thanks for the info. I am like a sponge this week, just trying to learn as much as I can.

[quote name='bob blackwell' date='Feb 5 2006, 01:52 PM']I agree, try again and just let it turn until the compression does not get any higher.  Never counted the revolutions, I just watched the guage.  After you get the highest readings with dry compression, try squirting some oil into the lower cylinder and see if it goes a lot higher.  If it does then the rings are bad, if not the valves are where the compression is leaking. Good luck, Bob Blackwell.

Thanks guys! I will try this before I leave to go watch the game tonight. I really dont want to have to tear into the engine yet. If I do though..watch out! I am one of those people who say 'well, since it's apart....' <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Is this the Chris Streit of Streit Racing?  White 911 runs in GT2?  He runs W2W with Midwest Council.  Won the GT2 overall points last year.  I will have to give him a call/e-mail.  He is on the Midwest Council Forum also so maybe that is the best place.  Thanks for the info!

Finally got some pictures posted check out

and click the link for 1992 Porsche 968.

I stopped by Euroquipe tonight. Good guys it seems like. had a bunch of 911's there and a few Beamers and Merc's. They are going to give the 968 a look over for me on Monday and Tuesday. Hopefully it is mostly good news.

Just autocrossed this past weekend. Put back stock 16", 205's at front, works way better in the tight slalom than the 17" 225's. I would suggest keeping two sets, one for Solo II, and larger ones for wheel to wheel.

What kind of tire compound? Stock or R? I only run R-compounds at both. What suspension work do you have if any?

Thanks,

Jeremie

Ill make this my last post to this topic but I just wanted to keep everyonw who helped me with all the info up to date...

I got the 968 back from Euroquippe in St. Charles on Friday. These guys are really top notch, by the way.

They fixed a small trans leak for me and gave the car a good looking over. I am happy to say that short of the P.S. leak (I knew about and am switching to manual), the minor trans leak, and a couple of torn bushings, everything else looked to be in good condition to them.

I have some of my interior parts for here

Now I can continue on with the upgrade process!! I am so excited! As things progress I will try to keep my site up to date!

Thanks to everyone for their initial help and suggestions!
