There's an aftermarket Zimmerman drilled rotor that will be a much less expensive option.

How much larger are the MO30 disks? Are there any adapters available so that the larger disk can be used with the standard caliper?

i do not know of any adaptors

I'm not sure that 5mm would be worth any extra work it would take. Except in case of upgrading the caliper as well.

i tend to agree - pretty sure there is no point at all on a street car on stock tire sizes upgrading to any setup - still, since i'm the mod nut, i'll probably do something - likely a ceramic setup

but i digress - it's great to hear that there is a cheaper option for those guys running M030 - this will be great news for club racers

The standard 968 front rotor is 298-mm x 28-mm

The M030 rotor is 304-mm x 32-mm, which is a (roughly) 19% increase in rotor volume over the standard rotor.

hey karl - the weissach site said 299 on the rears, and i thought front and rear were the same size - that's where i got my numbers - what's up with that?

Interesting, where did you hear the rears and fronts were the same size?

Assuming I haven't made some mistake, the rears (299-mm x 24-mm) are ~16% smaller than the stock fronts. Though the rears are 1-mm larger in diameter, they are 4-mm narrower - hence less overall metal to act as a heat sink...

BTW, 299-mm x 24-mm is the same size as the rear brakes on a 964 (though not sure about the hub offset).

ok - i was only referring to diameter - i thought the rotors were the same diameter front and rear since they use the same calipers with different pistons - let's make sure we're talking apples and apples here - i meant that on a non-M030 car too - is that wrong? - are the rotors different diameters on a non-M030 car? 298 and 299? that's also why i said "i believe" - i wasn't positive

anyway, so i used the diameter on that site as the base - do you have a crossover chart of applications? i would love to chat with you about that when you get a chance - i have an idea (gee - never said that before)

After a hard time to find 968 M030 frontrotors (pn 965 351 042(041) 01)

Found that 968 M030 rotors ar the same as for 944 turbo S, 944 S2 M030 and 928 S4. The only diff is that 968 M030 is crossdrilled.

Aftermarket rotors for 928 S4 crossdrilled R/L = 968 M030. (Sebro rotors 150$ ea. in Sweden)

Also the "rare" 968 M030 steering knuckle ar the same as for 944 turbo S and 944 S2 M030.

Yup, I was talking non-M030 as well. So just to "make sure we're talking apples and apples here":

* Non-M030: F = 298-mm x 28-mm; R= 299-mm x 24-mm

* M030: F = 304-mm x 32-mm; R= 299-mm x 24-mm

Those values have been quoted in multiple locations. Examples:

My copy of the 944 S2 brake specs (which is the same as the 968) published by Porsche. Porsche quote diameter in inches in its US literature:

* Non-M030: F = 11.73"; R= 11.77"

* M030: F = 11.97"; R= 11.77"

And a few other random selections:

* http://rotordiscs.com/catalogue.asp?make=17&dsc=Porsche

* http://www.944s2.com/brakes/brakes.htm

If you're interested in an application chart, Pasha published a simple table for all of the 924, 944, 968 and 928 brake component sizes in Excellence #49, November 1994, page 107. However rotor thickness and hub offsets are not quoted. The Rotordiscs link above has almost as much info...

good stuff- thanks

what i am looking for is a 911 crossover- i'd like to get ceramic rotors made, and if i can find a high volume crossover application, then it makes sense

http://www.vehiclecraft.com/ have installed 6-piston GT3 brakes on a 951.

Their kit might work with the factory GT3 ceramic bits...

i don't want to change calipers - ONLY rotors

i don't need more brakes - i fully engage ABS now and have no fade or heat issues in the most spirited of canyon drives - all i am looking to do is reduce mass - if i cn figure out an application for a different car (read: additional sales market) then the numbers can make sense
