High pitched Engine Noise. Need Help
#21

My car makes exactly the same noise. All belts were replaced 5K miles ago. Just had them adjusted for the run tomorrow. Now it sounds 3X louder. The key difference that I noticed is that the whining sound is very loud under load. As soon as I put my foot on the clutch it gets quieter. Still there but much quieter. Thoughts?

Before I had the belts adjusted is was noticeable. Now it is seriously annoying. I'll try for some video a la Shark later.

Just had a chance to listen/watch this video...sounds pretty normal to me. My guess is this is mostly belt noise. As others have mentioned, does the level of noise decrease after it warms up?

I have a much louder noise in the Coupe when it's cold that goes away when it warms up. It's getting ready for belt and water pump service so whatever it is, it's about ready to be gone!

rxter,
you can cover up all of those bothersome noises with a Rotrex...

Mine makes a similar high-pitched "wheeee" sound even when the engine is warm. Timing belt replaced about 10,000 miles ago. Video with sound:

They are all a little whiny I guess. Interestingly when I pulled into coffee and cars yesterday, of course all slow and cool as we parted the crowd, a couple guys thought the car was blown from the noise. Not sure if that is a benefit, but it was fun posing
