Looking for a 968....and Excellence pricing?
#1

Hi all,

I am new to the boards, but not to 968 ownership. I have owned a 968 and 944S2 in the past. I should have never sold my 968 (I'm sure I'm not the only one on here to say that).

Alas, I am looking for another. This will be a weekend toy and DE car for me, so while I am not looking for concours, super low mileage example, I do want it to be in very good shape cosmetically and mechanically.

I would prefer in the ball park of 80-90k miles (or less). Must be a 6 speed manual coupe.

Any leads on a car would be appreciated. I am located in Atlanta GA and don't mind traveling within approximately 1000 miles for a car.

In addition, can anyone provide me with the latest Excellence prices from the April 07 issue. I missed it on the newstand and my subscription ran out.

Thanks.

Jim

Jim-to find a car let your fingers do the surfing here are the excellence numbers:

1992 1993 1994 1995

so-so 9379 10003 10849 11974

good 10663 11373 12335 13614

ecxel. 14275 15225 16513 18225

FWIW-from what I have seen these prices are about ballpark for 70-90k miles cars, anything with less than 60 seems to ask for a premium and at about 110k there is a drop.

While driving to a nursery last Sunday in Mahwah, NJ, I drove past a house that had a 968 cab in front with a "For Sale" sign. It looked to be midnight blue. I'd offer to look at it if anyone's interested, but I can't do that for a couple of weeks as we're about to start a holiday cruise. However, I probably can get a little more info (after all, it would be difficult to have less info). Anyone?

Motorcar Investments in Raleigh, linked above, just got in another 968. A '94, around 85k, Guards and Cashmere, 6-speed. The car is in fabulous condition. Newer 993 style seats with very good leather.

They just posted a link with photos. Search this site under New Arrivals:

The owner, Larry Daniel, is a very good guy to deal with. The shop that just did the timing belt and other maintenance has been taking care of my car for years and knows the model well.

Guys.....thanks for all of your input and feedback. It looks like I've got a line on a nice 92 coupe that I'm looking at this weekend. Will post some pics if I move forward.
