leather console cover and antenna change
#1

Got first piece back from 928leathershop. Here is a pic of center console leather cover with Porsche crest stitched in center. leather looks much nicer than pic (due to sunlight reflection)

Also replaced antenna today. Decided to replace whole thing secondary to corrosion throughout Fuba mount and proximal wiring.

Order $19.99 antenna on ebay. You can just screw in new antenna portion or exchange whole unit and cable. Since carpet is out , decided to do whole thing. Kit come with wiring and connector and antenna.

Wiring a little tricky at corner post(back right), other than that easy. this looks just like original. Mount bolt is a little smaller. Original is 17mm, replacement is 8mm. Fits perfectly once you tuck wire up into roofline. You do have to carefully peel down the roof liner to expose original wiring and to remove retaining zip strap.

The 928 shop is probably one of the best in the business. Very nice!

Very nice, was your console lid originally covered in leather? What was the shape of the padding?

I wanted to add about 1/4 inch extra padding but 928leather shop piece was alread angle stitched and it did not look right. Kept the under foam the same. French seam.

Yes, was covered in leather. Worn and stained. Not as nice as Bob's leather.

PS: not to knock anyone, but there is a guy on ebay selling a 'high rise' center console cover. I actually saw one. It was made of thin plywood glued together and covered in leather. Not the best....
