Pics of my 968 cab at Pocono DE
#1

Guys,

Here are pics of my cab at Pocono South DE - it looks like I kept it pretty close to the apexes!

968 is a total blast to drive - I was able to carry ton of speed through the infield, sit on the tail of more powerul cars and force them to let me pass on the straight! Many people in my group got a solid reminder of just how great 968 really is.

Looks like fun. What's hanging low under the car on the passenger side?

I think you are seeing the brake air scoop thingy.....technical term.

Am I right in that I don't see a roll bar? Was this a PCA DE event? How were you able to pass tech?

I think I see a few inches of track you left on the inside of the car.

Just kidding.

Did you simply use duct tape to mask the front of the car?

That's blue painter's tape. Peels off without screwing up the paint.

Nice number

I tried to get that number for my TracQuest DE events. It was taken, so I'm 966. At least, if I ever change cars, I can turn the number over and still have something usable.

It is great to have so many comments!

The blue tape is absolutely great - it is a racing tape from I/O Port Racing, it only costs a few $ per huge roll and goes on and off w/out any residue. Highly recommended!

I got away w/out roll bar because it is a PCA DE Novice Day. These days happen only twice a year, so I am counting on Flash to finish the roll bar before the Lime Rock DE. The bar would allow me to get into higher run groups and drive w/out instructor.

I have no idea what's the name of this hanging thing. I have it on both sides, so it must be the brake air scoop (or mud flap?) and not a broken suspension part, as I first thought when I discovered it.

Hey, I almost dropped a wheel or two, when tracking out of a hairpin, but Victoracer tires hung on and saved me from getting a black flag. Next time I'll be touching the cone!

I wasn't aware of Novice Day activities. I'm also looking forward to the Flash roll bar. At TracQuest, it will also allow me to move up a group, once I have a little more track time. I'm already qualified to drive without an instructor - but the first time around I found that I was more confident, and faster, with the instructor than without one. I'll see what happens next week, when I do my second event.
