Keyless Entry Group Buy
#1

I recently contacted "Bull Dog" Security AKA JBS Technologies regarding the KE1702 Keyless entry system.

While I was on the phone I asked about setting up a group buy for this unit WITHOUT the "Bull Dog" logo screen printed on the key fob & the answer was a resounding yes.

I have yet to receive pricing, but I wanted to send out a feeler to the group to find out how many would be interested.

If you would like to order a unit or three please tag this post with your information so I can make a tally.

Cheers!

one of my key pads doesn't work right now.

so i'd be up for one or two depending on the price.

are we talking $5 or $20?

Count me in. What information would you need, besides the number of units (I'd like one). Thanks for coordinating this.

Is this for replacement key fobs only or for the entire unit/system? I don't have keyless entry for my 968 but would like to add it. What is the approximate cost?

Thanks for looking into this.

I would be interested in the KE1702 Keyless entry system if it is the entire kit. I do not have the keyless entry for my car and would like to add it. Let me know what the final cots are going to be. thx!

The group buy would be for the complete system, but I am sure I could arrange fob replacement as well.

I have yet to hear back on price but if retail is set at $49 a safe bet would be $35.

I requested the Keyless "fob" NOT include the "Bull Dog" Logo as illustrated below (Unless you can find a new "Old Stock" KE1702 system the key fobs WILL feature this Logo)

The motivation for this buy is not necessarily saving's but ascetics as to preserve an OEM appearance.

To paraphrase "The Graduate"-

"Solvents"

…and trust me: six months after you start using the fobs the white ink on the buttons will start wearing off, so you aren't going to have perfect aesthetics anyhooow.

Etnier,

In the scheme of things the logo doesn’t matter, but I have been told that trying to remove the silk screen is "difficult" even with "solvents". Since I don’t have any first hand experience on this one, maybe some of the more seasoned members can chime in.

If I can save the group a few dollars, and deliver a clean OEM looking keyless system then this buy becomes a worthwhile endeavor.

With that being said none of this is set in stone, but what I do know is that if a good number (10 or more) commit the price will be too good to pass upeven WITH the logo. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/cool.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Did you synchronize the second key fob to the system? Look in the instructions, you have to go through some steps to make both work.

RENNSPEED,

I tried to remove it. Solvents did not work. I got it off with a light sanding, but it takes off the coating under it. The result is a shinny black plastic that needs to be repainted to look reasonable, but not good. It looks better with the flat rubber- like coating that without.

I am using the stock one with BULLDOG on it.

4 (Including myself) and counting........

I would like to get at LEAST 10 members to confirm, but if the thread becomes stale I can still place the order with less.

If anything develops in the pricing department I will inform the group immediately.

Cheers!

Count me in. How difficult to is it to install the unit? Send an email once you have a final commitment and we'll arrange payment. Thanks for spear-heading this thing!

i've already got the brain installed. it wasn't too tough and i'm no genius.

the key is to find the existing wires and just tap into them.

it's a tad tricky to get the trunk lid to pop in a cab, but greimann can hook you up with a gizmo for that.

the letters will come off easily with goof off. it does, however, eat at the plastic. so you have to be ultra careful to just dab them off. even still, the plastic will get some slight damage. you'll be the only one to notice, though.

dave - i did try reprogramming the remote a couple times. even disconnected the car battery for a while and re-connected it. the only thing left that i can think of is that the battery in the remote itself is bad. but the light on the remote will flash, so i'm at a loss. i know it's under warranty but i wonder if the cost of shipping is any less than just buying a new one?

renn - if you're trying to get a list, i'd only be interested in the fob, not the whole system. and i'd have to see a price, too. it's not worth that much to me since i really only use one set of keys most of the time anyway. thanks for looking into this. i'd highly recommend the system to anyone who hasn't already installed one.

one more note for any new installers. there's a really cool light flash relay that you can buy and radio shack for $12. there's instructions here on the forum somewhere. it just wires into the brain under the floor board.
