Nope Degrease, sit 10 min, Pressure wash with low pressure nozzle, Degrease 10 mins, and steam cleaned the areas that had heavier grime, Pressure washed again, and then blew the water out with my compressor. Disconnecting all of the conector blowing all moisture out. The steam cleaning took the longest I took the time to detail all of the metal inside the compartment. I bought a pretty heavy duty steam cleaner on ebay a few years ago. It is a Steam Dragon or something along those lines. The paint in the engine bay sparkles too.
She started right up and I took it for a spin.

Thanks guys I actually love detailing the engine compartments. It is a very rewarding job. I recommend picking up a steam cleaner and doing it. They work very well. Also use degreaser I buy the gallon jugs and use a spray bottle it makes the job soooooo much easier.

I found out after I got it home it had a nasty RMS leak. Needed a new battery and tires. I got a smoking good deal for the car all in all I am very happy with the purcahse. It was a blast to drive home from Chicago 14 hours straight through. I could not get over selling my last 996. It was one of those cars that I kicked myself for selling the momement I handed the keys over to the new owner. I had wanted a SY 996 for quite sometime so I was very excited when I found this car. I will keep this one until the prices bottom out on the GT3 996. I want to start attending all of the local track events that was one of the things I loved most about my old 996 it was setup for the track and I loved taking it out.

Eric,
The car looks GREAT!
Hope that you'll come to the 2006 celebration and visit your car's new home on the East Coast.

That's reel purdy. Wow! I'm afraid I'll get moisture into something it shouldn't go into! What should I mask off?

I don't mask anything off I just blow the water out with an air compressor it works really well. Think about it when you drive in heavy rain your engine compartment gets wet from the underside of the car.
