Cruise Control just stopped working
#21

Quote:Inside the socket is a plastic bushing.  Broken apart.

Looks like another plastic item on our cars that fails due to a combination of age & heat.

Thanks for sharing - may come in handy down the road...

Update on my cruise control problem. After getting the cable I started to disable the connection at the "drive link" and realized the cable had a lot of slack, enough to allow the socket to pop off the arm that the cable connects to with a ball socket. Looked like the slack was allowing the arm to open too far. I tightened down the slack and the "thunk" is gone and the CC works fine now. Haven't replaced the old cable yet, will wait and see. It appears the plastic piece is a dust seal just like on the end of the accelerator cable.
