I had the 968 out yesterday running errands before it got too hot. WX here has been uncharacteristically hot, between 95 and 100. Anyway I was approached on three separate occasions by Porsche owners (there are a lot of Macan and Cayenne and Panamera owners in Lake Oswego) who were very interested in the car, never having seen one. As always the subject of power and performance came up and they were very surprised at how little the 968 weighs. They were also surprised by the horsepower and torque output relative the engine displacement and the fact that it is a twin cam 4.
The market has changed, people want bigger cars with all of the nanny features. Both of our Audi's are loaded with these features and I have to admit I miss them when driving the 968, especially the tail warning radar. Given the number of big American P/Us and SUVs we see up here, it may well be too risky to drive a small light weight car. There are a lot of things about driving in California I do not miss, but I do miss the California FWY system.
One nice thing I discovered was that during the first 6 months we lived here, we had no idea where anything was and so we relied on WAZE for navigation assistance. If you use WAZE enough, you come to realize that it's goal is to keep you moving, even if has to take you all over hell's half acre to get you to your destination as quickly as possible. As a result, I have found a boat load of great drives to take the Porsche out on.

Likely one of the many reimagined 928 concepts...they seem to be mostly wishful thinking.
