I'm very sorry 968 owners
#21

There were only somthing like 11,500 968's made - so in today's terms (more Boxsters are made every year), a 968 is a fairly rare beast. I for one am very grateful for anyone who has owned one (I could not afford one when new - so someone took a large slice of depreciation for my enjoyment), looked after one, and especially people who contribute to the greater knowledge of how to keep them going. Enthusiasts are enthusiasts. I am yet to see a train buff that owns a real train (I am not one, but used to work in railways) - but that does not stop their enjoyment.

I agree on the elitist senitments. I orginally was looking for a 944 turbo when I bought my 968. I wanted one because they were not associated with the 911 ego's and status cult. They were simply excellent handling cars and built well.

Open the doors to anyone who hankers to enjoy what we do. Keep the assistance going and for those that think owning something brings enjoyment - sometimes waiting makes the end worthwhile.

As per this forum - lets be inclusive.

You know, i keep thanking everyone for their support (honestly, I'm not surprised)
but, I'm truely touched by all the great comments.
It is days like these, I know I made the right choices.

Thank you!!!!

I've just seen this for the first time...and I'm stunned!

First of all - glad you showed up.

Second - I'd like to believe "Once a member, always a member". I guarantee you...if I were to change cars to some other type of Porsche (something, BTW, that will never happen - for me, speaking personally, it's a 968 or no Porsche), I'd still want to be with my friends - and I'd hope (and expect) to be welcome.

That said, we did have one red 911 (I can't even tell you which type - an older one, though) park in one of "our" rows, among the 968s, and I heard one or two of "us" say that he should have been asked to move. I found that offensive, and I find what was said about you offensive.

So, take the evidence in this thread at face value, ignore the "rant", and stay the course.

No worries...if it wasn't about you, we would have had to find someone else to say nice things about.

I replied to the hershey post over on RL in regards to this situation. So i wont repeat here. Pat, we would all lose if you were to leave the 968 community. You know some people enjoy stiring the pot whenever they can.

Thank you for being present this year.

I don't have boobs. Does that exclude me from the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer?

Pat, thanks for the update. The anonymous dude is a fool and a coward. Forget him.

Ignore that idiot, you were definitely welcome there. We may have made a couple jokes about that 944 sitting over there, but it was all in good fun, we even spread the joking love to the Subaru.

Will it seems that I've been at the blunt end of a bad joke.
Whoever the poster is, was not there. Just someone starting crap or making a point.
I've a had few PM's asking if I'm 968owner. I am not, nor am I an attention seeking whore.

In fact I wish all I had to read about yesterday was what great weekend everyone had.
I know Lorri and I did.

Pat,

It was a great weekend no matter what vehicle was brought to the event. It's all about the people. This is one great group of people. We should not wait a year to get together again either ! You better be there with Lorri whenever that may be. Thank you everyone for the great time. Looking forward to the next get together

Here is what you need to do. Take the finger that is between your index and ring finger and raise that one finger, just that one. Then move on and continue talking with us as usual.

That was one of the stupidest comments I have ever read. Don't let that one persons opinion change things.

Pat,

Any time we can have someone with your knowledge participate on this forum, we all benefit, regardless of what car you are currently driving. Hope you stay around for a long time and continue to help us all.

I'm not going anywhere. This crap has been deeply rooted in my DNA. I love these cars and the people involved more so.

Pat, I also concur with the opinions expressed here that you are mroe than wlecome at any 968 event. To say it was cowardly not to leave name speaks for itself. You have made many contributions when you owned you 968 and you expertise on 968s or other Porsches is certainly welcome. I wonder what he or she thought of the 944 and red 911 that parked near us and we invited them over for wine and cheese. OMG what a disgrace that was! Ignore the naysayer and remain part of the group.
