HP/Torque - it's only numbers...
#1

I've seen a few folks ask this question, so I trolled through D1R's release notes and compiled this table. No funny math from me, just quotes from the notes.

I know it's only numbers, but it makes me smile <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.png" class="smilie" alt="" />

keep in mind too that stage 1 was on a different dyno, and i used a "standard" multiplier. stage 2 and 3 were done in a more conservative fashion, so those are minimum numbers. so it only gets better

but, it's interesting to see that we now out power the boxster, though it's lighter and gets better fuel economy than we do.

I saw the new boxster at tech tactics last weekend. They brought Hatter over from Germany to explain the design process. For those of you who get the porsche email newsletter it is well worth the watch. Anyway this is one good looking car. The boxster is now one of the highest selling cars in their brand . Bet the cayman also experiences good sales if only from a price point perspective. Although one look should do it. Did for me. If it would stop snowing and freezing rain here I might venture down to Max to get my sc installed. Chomping at the bit and now rxter goes and posts that graph!

On the track, my supercharged S2 is absolutely lineball with a 987S in terms of acceleration. Ive sat level with one from 80 km/h to 180 km/h. Power to weight is almost identical. The S2 is quite a bit lighter than the 987. I'm surprised there is no real difference between stage 2 and 3. What's going on with that?

there is a huge difference between stage 2 and stage 3. you just don't see it in peak numbers. that's because i am still limiting boost to 5lbs so as to save the rods. you'll see it if you look at the charts though. as an example, i picked up 40 lb/ft down low.

in stock trim, the S2 is almost exactly the same weight as the 987. S2 is 2888 ROW and 3042 US vs 987 with 2877 ROW and 3130 US.

i'm not sure what equipment is responsible for the differences between ROW and US weights, but the figures were easy to find.

given the above comparisons though, it will be interesting to see where my car now stacks up, as i am currently just about 375hp (though i may peel a little bit of that off for safety)

Yes, but the idea of my 20-year old sleeping dog thrashing one of the top sports cars on the planet (so say the automag cognoscenti) pleases me no end. I'm sure that I'll behave myself when I run up along side one...

Rxter, I know and think the new one is a good looking car. As is the new cayman I saw at tech tactics last weekend. I still love the lines of the 968 and sit and gaze at them as I smoke a cigar in my garage. I rented a 2010 boxster last year for Paso Robles and was delightfully surprised all around with this alleged chick car.

My s2 is 2810 lb. so power to weight is similar to a 987s.

987s is 2950 lb aus spec.

the weight differences could be the difference between gen 1 and gen 2. i'm not that up on boxster weights, so i'm not sure.

Most obvious are Airbags and A/C. Neither were standard on ROW cars. Sunroof and CC are other candidates...
