How to recognize M030
#1

I'm just curious if (and how) you can recognize the M030 from under the hood.

I was told that you can see it on the 'fat' half-moon-chape parts on top of the suspension ... but now I've seen at least two different types

Anyone with M030 having a nice picture ?

I don't mind if you want to take pictures when you're under the car ... they can always be usefull

As I've written in my posting above ... can it be identified under the hood ??

Hi Oz,

Mine, looks exactly like yours and as far as I know I do not have m030. Have a look at the option codes on the sticker under you bootcarpet...if there is option code 030 there you have it.

Sorry i can't be of more help.

Regards,
Johann

BTW...is your car RHD? I was already wondering before since the sport was a UK model, but now the picture has me really wondering.

Under the hood diff .. aren't the strut tower caps over the adjustable shocks OE on M030s, and not on "regular" models ? I don't know if this is the case or not, just asking..

That's close to what I meant - I've seen two different type of caps ...

Do you have a close-up from one of your M030 caps ?

Had a look at the sticker in the trunk yesterday .... unreadible

This morning I found this topic .... which I didn't find before

Could have known that it's also bigger brakes with bigger calipers and not just different sway-bars, springs and shocks

Now I wonder if a previous owner has changed my brakes and calipers or just added M030 Caps

Hi Oz,

Have a look in your service book. The front page has a duplicate of the sticker in the trunk. If you take a picture of it, I can help.

Also a quick check of the rear shocks will tell you.
The will have coil springs.

A non M030 will not have the springs.

Also check the rear sway bar for extra adjustment.

some people remove the rear coil. The car is more compliant for daily driving without them. Not as bouncy.

What? The strut caps in the picture look like what's on my car but I had assumed mine does not have M030.

I'll crawl under the car and measure the sway bars. What size is the M030? I'm pretty sure I had done that years back...

There are not springs on my rear shock.

30mm front
19mm rear

the caps in the top red car picture are standard struts (i think they have a "271" on them) - the ones in the lower shot are M030, and are not the same shape
