how did i lose something in my garage?
#1

i bought a couple of odometer gears, in preparation of changing out a broken one in the white car. i've had them a couple of weeks. i had them on one of my benches, still in their baggie, carefully lain so they would not disappear, knowing how tiny they were. i saw them last a few days ago. i have not done much in the garage since they arrived.

today i get the car out and torn apart to change it, i go over to where i KNEW i had left them and they are GONE!

any of you who have seen my garage will find it hard to believe that i ever lose anything there.

for the life of me i cannot find them. of course it's thursday and i discovered it too late to have any more overnighted to me for tomorrow, and for whatever reason, i am not on saturday delivery for either fedex or ups. so, now i get to wait until monday, and the car, which is now torn apart, must also sit until then

arrrrrrrgh!!!!!

the only thing that i can think is that they somehow got packed up in one of the shipments i sent out in the last 2 weeks. i have no other explanation.

So what you want them back? I used parts of your garage in designing mine, sure you didn't move them to a better place?

Blame it on a " senior moment " , or gremlins .. The first is the more probable. Have some wine, and first thing tomorrow you'll find it back exactly where you put it.

Was my wife in your garage? If so, she'll swear she didn't move them, but you'll find them in the closet.

I lost a flex gas hose when I installed a new shop furnace. I'd bought two, not sure which one I needed and intended to return the odd one. I assume I somehow used the bag it was in for some trash and tossed it despite the weight it must have had. It's not so much the lost value that bugs me as the feeling that I cannot understand how it got lost. Ah well. The new furnace is nice.

that's exactly what is bothering me the most. it's not the $50 for the gears so much as not knowing what happened, and having now to wait until the new ones arrive monday, and the car can't move.

Bob,

I went home over lunch today and found the lower brace on my front porch. I'm always eger to unpack the Design1Racing goodies when they arrive. I was surprised when the first thing I pulled out of the box was a zip-lock baggie with two Odometer Gears and a bussiness card in it; looks like the mystery is solved! Thought maybe it was a freebie at first <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.png" class="smilie" alt="" /> . I'll get them headed back your way tomorrow.

Completly serious; I even texted a friend "Cobalt968" that I had gotten it with the order and he informed me Bob was looking for these.

yeah - i know EXACTLY how this happened and when.

i had to repack his box to include something. that meant that i swept all of his stuff out onto the bench. i then swept it back in, and at the same time, grabbed the baggie with the gears. OOPS!

This is why you check the forums daily! (I saw this thread yesterday and put two and two together)

Also, now I won't feel bad asking Bob aka "Flash" for recommendations of suspension upgrades (mostly the ones he sells) for my new 95 white cab.

Flashes real question was who was going to find the toy in their cereal box. I tore my splitter package apart in our main reception area as employees and patients looked on in what I can only surmise was amazement and some detached amusement. What's a splitter? By the time I was done explaining to my audience that it added 100mph to the speed of the car by reducing the coefficient of drag they were asking if they could get one!
