Hey there!
#1

My name is Michael, rdtricks my handle, and I currently live in Sonora, CA. This past Friday (07/05/2013), I became the third owner of a 1995 Cabriolet with just over 58K miles. Originally sold in Palo Alto, CA., this vehicle has stayed in the Bay area until now.

As the story was told to me; The original owner ignored this little beauty and it suffered terribly. Sun damage took the top along with bleaching and warping much of the interior and plastics. The second owner did a nice job of bringing it back from that sad state of neglect, including some suspension modifications (lowering, corner balancing and custom Porsche chromed rims). Anyway, I am hoping to locate all those difficult to find parts and pieces (interior cosmetics and mechanical) with plans of bringing this little gem close to original condition.

Having owned several different kinds of 'sports cars' over the years, this is the first Porsche I have ever driven. These past several evenings have been a joy beyond description. What handling, what power, what fun! I am sure this new project will bring me much satisfaction balanced by small amounts of frustration.

Thanks for reading.

Michael,

Welcome to the forum and 968 ownership. It is always great to see someone putting some live and kindness back into what is (in our humble opinion) a great car.

All the best with the ownership journey. Not sure how much research you did prior to purchase, but check into when the timing belt was last changed.

Hopefully the car will bring many hours of pleasurable tinkering and even more of driving it.

Lots of great info here to work through and people to ask questions of.

Welcome. Depending on your cosmetic damage it, it is possible to bring color back with some good products, tlc and some elbow grease!
