Help, door lock/alarm issue
#1

Last night I replaced my door handle gaskets. I did the full job (no cuts) and everything went fine, or so I thought. Something has happened with the driver's door lock. When I lock the doors using the key the lock botton goes down and the alarm sets. However, when I unlock the door the lock button is coming up but the alarm is not coming off (alarm light is still flashing even though button is up) and starts to sound. Other times I try to unlock the door and it just locks itself again right after I turn the key. Everything is fine from the passenger side. What did I do? Thanks

Try disconnecting the battery and see if that fixes it. Sometimes the alarm computer gets confused and you have to leave the battery off for a little bit to reset it. Try that and see if that fixes it.

Thanks, I did do that to shut the alarm off. But maybe it is something with the alarm. Playing with it more I find that I can lock and unlock both door by using the key in either door. However, when I unlock the car from the driver's side the lock button comes up but the alarm does not come off. Unlock the car from the passenger's side also brings up the alarm button but the alarm does come off.

Also another tip to shut the alarm off is the following: Open passenger door. Lock the car by using the button on the console. Shut the passenger door. The car is locked and the alarm is off.

You can have good night rest when the car is indoors or something like that.

When you switch on the ignition the alarm stops??

My car has the original alarm and also an extra one for the insurance company.

I have disconnect from the original alarm the claxon. This because alarm 1 sets alarm 2 to work. It always gets on when I don't like it. So I changed it a little bit.

Good luck by finding the solution to your problem. Maybe an electtronic switch has been damaged?

Hi,

If you removed the little switch on the lock cylinder, make sure that the switch lines up correctly with the lock cylinder.
