Help!!!
#1

Hello all and thank you in advance,

I will try and explain as best as possible since I don't have pictures.

On the exhaust side of the motor. There is a hard line that runs along the exhaust manifold and connects to ~2 inch hose near the front of the motor, this hose connects to a plastic device (llooks like some kind of valve). It is this plastic piece that is spraying coolant. I would like a part # if possible so I can order it today from work. Thank you all once again.

This would be a good time to upgrade that flimsy plastic part to the metal one which came on the Audi 5000. My autozone part number for the metal heater control valve is 74671 the cover of the box has this number plus the words heater valve and Factory Air on it. It was about $12. good luck, Bob Blackwell.

I know this horse has been beat many tiimes but can someone summarize whether the Audi valve is a direct drop in replacement or do you have to monkey with the hoses and attachment. This is important for someone who needs a quick fix.

So Monkey or No Monkey? <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

It is a direct fit - the only adjustment I made was to straighten out and shorten the vacuum connection and add lip of JB weld for a better seal (minor adjustment) . Also changed out hose clamps - do a search on the heater control valve - there should be a thread on it already

Josho:

Is there anyway that you could pick up one of those metal HCV's at the Sacramento store and ship it to me. I'll gladly pay the shipping. I just called the store and they have one in stock but do not ship out of state. I live in Massachusetts and have been unable to locate one locally. They tell me that there are none on the east coast. I would appreciate it. If you could email me, i'll send my address, money and whatever else you need.

Thanks,

Carl

Carl,

I'll take a picture of the part tonight but it's part plastic, and the store I went to it was the last one. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/sad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

I called the Autozone store at 3333 Fruitland rd. at about 4:00 eastern time and the guy physically checked his stock and said the one he had was also partially plastic and metal.
