Versions of Motronic or ECU or DME
#1

I have the opportunity to pick up a DME for relatively few euros, but it has part number 944.618.123.02

As far as I can figure out from searching the forums, this means there are three different versions out there: 944.618.123.00, 944.618.123.01 and 944.618.123.02.

My question is: Does anybody know what the differences are between these computers?

there were 3 different versions of the ECU assembly - each versions succeeded the previous - there were different chips as well - basically there were 3 combinations of the 2 chips and 2 ECUs

that being said, the only one that is not interchangeable is the first one

that being said, there is also a difference in a tip ECU, but i think it can be turned into a manual ECU - i'll check on that - i'm blanking at the moment on what the difference was
