I had to replace the DME that used to live in my glovebox that replaced the one that caused my car to cough and sputter. Anyway, I found two different part numbers that are identified as appropriate for a 968. 993 615 227 00 and 993 615 227 01. The Amazon listed URO DME that is linked to in several past threads (yes, I searched this before posting) and which I just bought, is the "01" version. Is there a difference?

I think the early 92 cars had a slightly different unit.

Hopefully this question does not cause argument or offend, but I had recently been reading about this relay in another forum. The consensus there was that the URO brand relay was a poor quality unit, sometimes defective right out of the box. These posts were about 3-5 years ago and the forum was for 993 Carreras which I understand use the same DME relay.
Have any here noted quality or reliability problems with the URO brand? Is the Porsche boxed/branded unit better in any meaningful way?

I have not heard any feedback regarding one brand over another, only that the 993 part is far superior to the original 944 part number.

I too just received my F9 Pump-Prime DME relay.
I installed it today and I believe the engine does fire off more quickly, particularly when the engine is warm.
I have not been having any DME problems and the relay I replaced (KAE branded) was fairly new looking, definitely not the original.
I replaced it out of an abundance of caution which is part of my pattern of establishing a baseline so I know the age and condition of my cars wear components. The fully functional relay I removed is double sealed and safely residing in my glovebox as a spare.
