Sticky Speedometer
#1

Sorry for another speedo question...

I've noticed a few times lately when getting underway from 0 MPH that the speedometer does not move from 0 until I get up to around 30-35 MPH or so... and then it suddenly jumps to the correct speed. This only happens now and then... and surprisingly, it doesn't seem more likely to happen when the gauge is "cold". As a side note, the odometer keeps rolling even when the needle is stuck at 0 MPH.

I can live with this... but was wondering if this might be an early sign of a more serious gauge failure that I should address before it gets worse...

Thanks

Identical problem, but I seriously can't live with it. Bugs me all to #$%^ and back. Looks like the initial check for all other speedo issues is the connector behind the dash.

1) Does that sound correct?
2) Need to remove the entire freaking dash to check the connector?

And we've not seen Seattle for a while now or I'd ask if he fixed it.

Had that on my 944, turned out to be the speed reference sensor. It slowly got worse over time, and then died in the winter.
New sensor solved it. Meanwhile they had sent my instrument panel to North Hollywood, before checking the sensor.

You mean the speed sensor in the ABS? Item 5 below?

No, my 944 had it mounted on the transmission, not sure the 968 is the same, but your symptoms are the same.
I think the 968 system is different but still on the transmission.
