I agree 100% with S Cal968.
Check vac lines really closely. I say this because just recently(since I reverted back to the original OEM chip) car seemed to take longer to start. And today, for the first time , it did not start on the first try. I looked over everything very carefully in the engine bay. Then I decided to change spark plugs. I put a new set of Bosch Platinums 4016's in (and found a small oil leak from spark well gasket on #4).
Anyway, car seemed to run better, but it did not feel like all 250hp's( i say 250 because of ported intake box and aftermarket exhaust) were there by any stretch. Just by chance, I removed the rear plastic engine bay cover to snug up the valve cover bolts when I saw a dangling vac line. What the???...Next to the battery under the rear engine bay plastic cover, there is a vac valve. Well, i hooked this back up and added a zip tie to keep it in place.
All i have to say is WOW!! starts right up and runs like 30hp was just added to the engine. Originally, I thought that power was felt when the vario came on. NOW i have power through the ENTIRE rpm range. I can easily get the rear wheels to spin on a hard turn. I have a feeling this line was unhooked for a long time because of the grime on the valve nipple.
But not all can be good news. ended up hitting a big Michigan pothole and a tiny windshield chip right in front of my face decided to spread a foot to the right....eeeeesshhhh! Anyone have a spare windshield(no chips)?
