<i>we are following the same procedures and reasoning the factory did, and will have the same safe and universally applicable tuning"</i>

Man, you are really making me drool over here. Every comment on this kit just sounds right! It is exactly the kind of power bump I'm looking for. I've driven Supras, MR2s etc with big turbo upgrades, they are wicked fast but not enjoyable, things get lost when you bump up the power. I think my car produces decent power as is and is very drivable fun, never scary. This kit seems as if it will maintain the driveablity of the car while making it faster. Man I wish I had 4K

I can't speak for Darryl, but I'd guess at least 3 or 4.

Sorry Flash.

yeah - there is is a thread all about daryl's event

back on track

since the unveiling of the kit will happen this weekend at paso robles, everyone can expect a full release at about the same time - i've been working hard to complete this, and it has been extremely complicated with vendors finishing last versions of things - as it stands i fear i may have to make the paso robles run without a couple of updated parts

we'll see

I'm sure this has come up earlier but despite following this thread with great interest I can't recall it being mentioned. I'm trying desperately to resist getting the RSB header and complete exhaust and stage 2 software. If I can't resist, will fitting these parts make my car impossible to put the sc kit on? Since a non cat car can't get the fuel it needs with stock injectors and sc, how will it then work with a sc and RSB header and exhaust?

quite simply, it wouldn't

but, it is too early to tell what would happen -

we have not tested without a cat, and probably won't, as this is not a good idea anyway - if you plan to run without a cat, you would be in for your own tuning, and you may find you have to get in a lot deeper than you are prepared for

we have not tested with a header - the stage 2 software would not be used with the sc

again people, when we put up the charts, if it isn't enough, get a turbo - this kit is NOT to be fiddled with - there is NOT going to be any more on the table with the existing tuning - anything you do would be starting all over, and i can tell you from experience you could EASILY spend as half as much again on the tuning as you did on the kit itself - you could also find that it was a complete waste of money and you only got a little bit more power, or worse, that it didn't work at all

I wasn't contemplating going out of bonds, I simply wanted to know if buying a header would mean that a sc kit is not a possibility. I'm thinking that a header is a neat way of getting some extra power while waiting for the ROW sc software...

no worries - i just have to be sure we don't run into unexpected snags or anybody drawing any conclusions on their own

we'll let everybody know exactly what the deal is the minute we can - stand by - it is imminent

well, i took the car to paso robles and back this weekend - 600 miles round trip, plus a fun run

it ran flawlessly the entire weekend

i now have about 1200 miles on it, including cold starts, long runs, well over 60 dyno pulls, big hills, lots of romping - i am nearly there, with just one trim part waiting to be finished, and one more tuning session to clean up a couple of small spots that i just want better

the release will coincide with hershey

I can validate the cold start aspect since that's the only thing I witnessed up close and in person...I was right next to Bob's car when we started them after a rather brutally cold night ( ok, we're talking California relative terms here, but nonethless..it was cold ) . And mind you, I was paying particular attention to this as I know most SC units are not at their best when you first turn that key on.

The car started on the first turn, was as silent as can be - no rattle, no chirping, no whistle, no whine - and a perfectly smooth idle from the get go. So I'm impressed. Those of you who know me, know that I'm pretty skeptical until proven otherwise, and also know that I'm not shy about expressing my opinions on any given subject regardless of whether or not they are related to a friend, a friend's products, etc.

Again, I can't speak to the rest of it until I experience it for myself, driving, or as a passenger, or side by side to see just how quick it is. But being close to it while standing and while driving, even when he stepped on it, I can add one more observation : no discernable whistle ! I for one, like the " run silent, run deep " M.O.

Too bad he had two cases of wine and Ayn in the car, otherwise I would have pushed him into proving just how fast the car is

lol - yeah - i took it pretty easy this weekend - i didn't want to deal with a tow home - i doubt it would have had issues, but it is just better to be a bit more conservative on what was essentially its maiden voyage - all was perfect though, and i was very happy - no question that it has WAY more torque than before, and that it will be very hard to catch - i was noting that i was able to stay a full gear higher than i normally would have, and still had plenty of torque on tap - i deliberately never revved over 4k the entire fun run, just to see how it behaved - no need for it either

i would have taken you for a spin as we were all checking out, but you had already blown out of there by the time i got back down to the lobby - it won't be long before before you drive it though

I think all the SC talk must end..... its not fair.. I tell you.. its not fair.... I want to only read about other peoples problems so that I can feel better about my car

getting down to the end now - we had our last tuning session before hershey - very happy with the results - i'll post them all VERY soon.

here is a shot of phil's car getting tested for a baseline. his was run as a totally stock late car with about 110k on it. the numbers were good, and exactly what one would expect from such a car. he'll be supercharging the car very soon, so we'll have a real A to B comparison for everybody, just to shut up those who would poke at us for testing on 2 different cars.

and a shot of me tuning mine

I thought the intent of this project was to produce a solid boost in the usable low-to-mid range, using a nice, compact blower. Judging from the size of the blower in front of Phil's car (are you planning to stuff it into the passenger area?), it would seem that you've done a 180 and are now going for gonzo boost at all cost! i'm thinking we are going to strap that to the front - note the yellow prototype test straps attached to the car to see how much force they can withstand

LOL!! Yeah, when they did the dyno run on my car, I just remember thinking, wow, that's loud...getting louder...getting louder, come on, how many rpm is that!!! my car's gonna blow up, aaahhhhhhh!!!! and then ducking for cover. Then I found some ear plugs.

then of course, when it didn't blow up, the man was proud of "big red", and took "the stance"
