Rubber Dampener Replacement Tip
#1

Just a quick Tip for those of us who love TIPTRONICS! When, not if, you need to replace the rubber dampener on the fly wheel, it's easiest to hang the transaxle down and push it back. This requires you to remove many parts but refer to other repair guides for those instructions. The Tip for a Tip is before starting, remove the three bolts attaching the rear transmission cover. From the photos, you see the previous owner or shop didn't do this and dented the Spare wheel housing. I see this on both my Tips so it's probable a regular occurrence. Also from the photos you will see a gain of about 6" of clearence when you do this, making removal and installation quite a bit easier. Now if I could only get the photos to keep from being on their side  :whine:

Interesting to see. Will look if I have a dent.

Perhaps the damper is already once replaced in the last 30th years. Perhaps I will discover a dent.

In my period of 16 years it has never been replaced....
