GARAGE MAHAL - REV 2
#21

Pictures are one thing, but what we REALLY need is a video tour of that place!
does the bmw get lonely without dozens of posters praising it?
Even worse it has to stare at 968 poster on the wall in front of it.

Flash's poster count rivals his post count.

Hey Flash,

I see you also have some great 968 posters. I have been trying to collect some. I have the one "It's not a Rational decision, Love Never Is" and I just bought "To blow off steam, remove lid."

I was wondering if you could tell me some of the other quotes on the posters (I think they are so clever) and also where you get them? I have found a couple on ebay, but was curious if you or anyone else for that matter knew where to get them?

Thanks, Steve (And again, wow!)

thanks - those too are my favorites - i can't take credit for finding them though - my better half has been the one doing that - she's scoured the planet for them, and actually found them all over the world - i have a couple of them in german - she's been great at finding 968 stuff - i try not to ask just how she does it - i'm keeping my distance from that gift horse
only the hubs on the sewups on the red one...
This motivates me to "redecorate" my 3-car garage. Right now it contains two Colnago classics, several Cannondale, my 968, two motorcycles, tools, etc. etc. Too much stuff, too little organization. And then there are the cars in the driveway - never in the garage. I like the idea of putting the compressor outside.

ah yes - i remember those days - just prior to moving down here to los angeles, i had 12 cars, 6 motorcycles, 4 bicycles, and countless crates of parts - sold most of it all to simplify life

now starting back on the buying trend again - going ot rapidly outgrow this place if i am not extremely careful - i'll never learn

lol - sorry about that - i'm almost happy with it - still a few things to work out (air lines and such)

and then of course, there the whole "lift" thing to sort out

but it has been fun, and a whole lot nicer to work in that previous garages - almost like having my shop again

Hey, Flash: mind checking something out for me?

You have the "Three drivers drove this Porsche…" poster just about at eye level in your garage. I have that poster as well, and it has a very odd feature: if you look obliquely at the print surface you realize that all the text surrounding the car image was laid on after the fact by a laser printer. Or at least that's the case on mine.

Do you see the same thing?

PS: I'm just about caught up with you in the garage department.

Flash,

You've done a really nice job on your garage. Does it always stay that clean? My memories of living in S. Cal was that since you had no basements, the garages tended to be the "storage room"......many times not allowing for car storage!

But, it's obvious that you live in warm weather. When I did my garage last year, the first thing I added was an insulated garage door. Then came the insulated walls and ceilings, followed by sheet rock. Oh, and did I mention that I also put in (2) 50,000BTU heaters? All that work and money yielded me a garage that I can maintain at about 35 degrees above outside ambient (without turning on the heaters)......which makes working in shirt sleeves, here in Chicago, pretty common. Of course, when you have days like we have had the last week......when the outside ambient was minus 10.......well, I just didn't spend much time out there......let's just let it go at that. Even with the heaters on, you're looking at about 45 - 50 degrees inside....which is to cool for me!

Lastly, I turned my two place garage into a three place with the addition of a four post car lift. Best investment I ever made! So, the 968 is spending her winter under wraps and 6 feet above grade! Gives me the time to detail out the undercarriage this winter!

Anyway, nice job. I am a real believer that if you keep a garage neat and clean.......that all work comes out better.

etnier - it does seem to be "on top" of the rest of the poster - i have it in both english and german - they probably did the rest of the poster, and then laid the text over after the fact - it doesn't stand out as much in the white text as it does in the black

earossie - thanks - yes, it does stay that clean most of the time - occasionally i have a project strwn about, but that only lasts a couple of days - heaters would be good - going to be adding HVAC ducts to the garage in a couple of weeks - will help make it more comfortable for sure - no way for me to get that kind of lift in here - ceiling too low - but a shorty for work purposes will work - i completely agree about the workspace and its effect on the work

LOL. Good reality check.

Thanx Etnier, I'm actually feeling better about my 2 car now . However my floor looks just like yours, my shelving looks like something that belongs in a closet and I dont have a shed yet. One of those things I want to do on my own even though I don’t have the time. So till then the 68 has to room w/ a lawn mower, wheel barrel etc. U can hardly get the door open in there!

lol - one of the reasons i have a gardener is so that i don't have to store a lawnmower - it's all about the garage

Very nice place you have there. My damn lawnmower takes almost as much room as a car. (72" zero-turn w/diesel engine). It shares space with my 968. I have two garages under my house. The main has my 944S and the Audi in it. The second comes out the back of the house with no driveway. It is my barn/shop. Problem is moving cars when the ground is sloppy.

My next home will have a zillion-car garage, regardless of how many bedrooms I have to give up.
