I want to replace my fuel pump. It works fine, but it's noisy. Since I am obsesive about these things, I want a quiet one. But I don't want to pay Porsche prices for something I know is cheaper from a parts store.
So, can anybody provide me with the Bosch part number for the fuel pump?

Yesterday I finally got round to replacing my fuel pump. It was pretty easy to do and took me only about 2 hours including cleaning all the parts involved.
Maybe it's just me, but the DIY I downloaded from Clark's garage doesn't work well for the 968. There seems to be many subtle differences between the 944 and 968 in the fuel pump area. For example the pump is attached to the cover and not the tank. The rubber housing is different and quite tough to get the fuel pump out
If you have a noisy fuel pump I would strongly urge you to replace it. I could not believe the difference in noise levels in the cabin. My fuel pump provided me with an ever present drone and today while driving the car it was eerily quiet. Funny thing is, i did not know how intrusive the fuel pump noise was until now.
I am very happy with my new fuel pump.

I think if you're pump is humming you will know. It sounds like a cell phone that is vibrating in a table.

Would it make a difference to upgrade this part? Would there be any performance difference? Just curious since I did update my fuel pressure regulator with the RSB version.

I know very little about this subject area, but I don't think there is any need to upgrade unless you bolt a turbo on, and even then I don't see the need.
This pump has a flow rate of ±130 liter per hour at 4 bar. I can't think of any situation where you will be able to use that much fuel in one hour in a 968.
