Fuel level relay, sending unit
#1

Changing gasket on the fuel level sending unit assembly. It's the area accessed through passenger side trunk floor. It has two hoses, a small black square plastic device with wires which I assume is a sending unit or relay. There is a large black plastic ring nut which holds the whole assembly in place.
I was doing some pre part arrival recon of the area and would like to know how and if that relay/sending unit disconnects? Mine seems well attached and as I was reaching for my favorite leverage enhancing tool, thought better of it and came in to ask those who have gone before.
Also, there is a patch of material which sits atop the black round access cover. Is this factory installed? Is is for insulation, vapor reduction, flame retardant?
