I successfully installed a new filter yesterday. A couple of observations. I had let the car set overnight and accessed the filter by lifting the car and removing the RR wheel. It's a little tricky getting a pair of padded vice grips on the hose returning to the engine, and, of course, it requires two wrenches to break loose the fittings at either end of the filter. One blip was encountered. The Mahle filter I replaced had threaded male fittings at either end, but the Cech-made Mann filter I installed, WK 726, came with one correct male fitting and a larger female fitting at the inlet side. The obvious fix was to remove one of the identical pair of fittings on the Mahle to replace the wrong fitting on the Mann, and install the filter. Both fittings were difficult to remove--I didn't want to damage the new filter--but yielded to a long box end wrench. I did not bother trying to kill the running engine by pulling a fuse, and probably released and caught less than a pint of fuel. Thanks for the help!
