Fluid evacuation (from cars)
#1

It's time to change fluids - and I see a number of products that evacuate

the many different fluids, ie: brake, p/s, oil, coolat, trans.

Some of the products out there I see are:

Motive Products Power Extractor $59.95

The Fluid Extractor Plus $94.95

(From the Performance Products catalog)

I would like to hear from members here if there is a consensus about

any of these products? I need to save money on this end so I can

spend it on mods.

Thanks for responding.

If you really need to save money you can build your own bleeder.

Most excellent link, and DIY!!! I wish I saw this about a month ago...

I actually already have the Motive bleeder, and hope to hear from

the forum about evacuators. It's pulling the stuff out from the car

that I need to get straight. I don't think the Motive bleeder provides

suction, only positive air pressure. Right?

Thanks Mark!

I don't own any of them so I can't speak to them but I also hear good things about MityVac. There was a discussion on 968.net sometime this year but the search engine blew out on me when I tried to find it.

I have both a MityVac and a Motive Power Bleeder and the Motive wins hands down. All the freakin' squeezing of the handle on the MityVac is very tiresome and the Motive is a work of art by comparison. The MityVac is good for sucking fluids out of a reservoir -- the Motive can't do that. But for bleeding brakes or the clutch hydraulic system, the Motive Power Bleeder is the right tool.

I have both too and would recommend both. The motive bleeder is great for the brake system; however with the mity vac you get a variety of fittings for doing a multitude of tasks.
