Torque question for hose fitting on front of water pump
#1

Does anybody know how much torque to apply to the two allen head bolts that hold the black plastic hose fitting to the front of the water pump? There's an o-ring between the fitting and the water pump. The bolts look like they should take about 10 nm, but I'm wondering how the presence of the o-ring might impact the torque requirement. I couldn't find this one in the manual. Thanks!

The correct torque setting is "not leaking". J/K

I just did mine by feel, tighten it like you would a cam cover and if you're worried about going to tight; use a 1/4 drive ratchet

Yeah, that's pretty much what Pete told me when I contacted him about this today. If it leaks, I could always tighten it until the leak goes away. On a side note, I'm amazed how much the original o-ring got mashed over the 16 years in was in there. And it was quite stiff, too, so much so that it was hard to distinguish from the surrounding plastic in terms of its elasticity.
