the black bits are pieces of the old hardened and degraded insulation, just shake the cable and it all starts falling out

That cable looked one speed bump away from shorting out.   Good that you got it replaced.

I swapped mine out for a 944 cable (longer, but fit OK) to "mitigate the risk", but also got a backup set from "David Cunningham" off one of the FB groups as he was doing a similar custom set here in the US.      May eventually swap over to those (as they seem better than OEM) and keep the 944 set as backup.

Those cables are very similar in failure mode to the 993s that had a bunch of failures/fires...  Everyone should be at least inspecting them, and very likely replacing.  I was lucky enough to get some of the IceShark cables before he passed.  Mine were already bad then (like 10 years ago)

Jack

I now have the plugs and ready to go

I will send you the link for payment and if you could include your address

I will get it made and sent out this week

I hope we dont get clobbered by the new EU shipping rules, just about anything is an exception these days

My brother sells panels for cars, we have to send everything as metal furniture or the shipping services wont take it

No worries if you have replaced the cable, I have examined a couple now and the blue wire is normally fine, its the main and solenoid wires that degrade

The cables were made by Leoni in the U.K. must have used crap wires

Got my cable today. Quality stuff, clips in a separate bag and even a sheet of paper with installation instructions Smile. Many thanks to Waylander for making it and shipping over.
