thanks for the bobbin reference. Just ordered some on the North America side of the pond from Amazon.

comes in a pack of 8 for $11.55 USD including shipping.    There is another one with 6 piece for around $8.26.

I figure I'll buy the 8 pack, some for me and some to give out if anyone needs some at the Oregon meetup

later this year. 

 

 

All parts ordered now...I hope.    Cam gaskets, et all, wiring harness, misc adhesives, PS hose, PS tank, ATF build, weather stripping around the rear hatch, and these isolators.  This plus the odometer repair.  Its going to be a busy week.

 

What a kind and helpful community we have here. Hope I can contribute back as well as I get more experienced with working on the 968.  No doubt this won't be the last time.

Still i have 4 of those mounted on my car.

2 are indead underneath the Variocam sign.

The other 2 are on the inlet manifold where the cover is also bolted onto those "bobbins"

 

I also bought the 15x15 ones, last time around from AliXpress i beleive.

It only used 2 not 4


It normally hits the bonnet / hood with 4 unless the engine mounts are very tired

Last year i renewed the engine mounts, and nothing touching under the bonnet / hood motorkap.

As this harness is NLA now for RHD cars, and mine is falling to bits, I can now make these, bought all the materials and use the white plug and pins off the old lead,


I will post some photos of mine and production of a new one, the ones sold by the guy on eBay work out to £110 with shipping and duty

Mine will cost a lot less and I have enough stuff to make 3 currently

I can do, the big problem is the plug to the main loom, I cant buy it anywhere I have even emailed Leoni Automotive who made it originally


So I need a donor cable or your cable to rebuild

I am just waiting for some plugs from the USA and I can get some made, Looks like about 70 euros for the cost, if anyone in Europe wants one please let me know,

 

bought a Crimper to put the High quality TE terminal ends on, uses 10 tons of force, they wont come off in a rush,

the black bits are pieces of the old hardened and degraded insulation, just shake the cable and it all starts falling out
