exhaust performance and sound!
#41

What is the difference in the rear silencer of a Tiptronic #944-111-049-01 and a manual transmission #944-111-041-10. Are they interchangeable as to fitment just a difference in backpressure? Any issue if I were to swap out the AT silencer for a MT silencer?

If I had to guess I’d say it’s probably a difference in mounting hardware, not design. But I have no direct experience. @Waylander ?

Would have to agree with the above post. There is not going to be any back-pressure difference and any good shop could retrofit the tip muffler for you. I can't believe the OE muffler needs replacement as these thing weigh a ton and last forever. I do however need to need to replace the muffler on my 87 as it sounds like mice have done their work filling it with noisey bits.

I replaced the stock exhaust with RS Barn and kinda regret it—the original also had chunks of metal blowing around in it like Ryan's above. But the new is a bit too loud for me.

Just to remove confusion, in the parts system there is only one CAT back part, for both manual and tip transmissions, the only different one is for Switzerland

for ROW 944.111.041.11 $1700, CH 944.111.049.01, now NLA, last one sold Jan 2018

There are also no CATS left for sale been NLA since 2014

Hmmm. I’d suspect CH has a different (stricter) noise requirement?
